Noodles and Neurosis Zine Launch

Noodles and Neurosis Zine Launch; An evening of discussions about schema therapy and the queer experience

The launch of Noodles and Neurosis by Dr. Xi Liu at The Bearded Tit in Redfern celebrated queer experiences with readings from Xi, Cherry Zheng, and Oliver Vincent Reyes. Host Mai Kanhukamwe set a warm tone, leading into Cherry’s heartfelt Libations on migration and trauma, Oliver’s comic Latinx Feels Best on navigating Latinx heritage, and Xi’s Love Languages, reflecting on migrant mothers and enmeshed boundaries.

A Q&A with Xi and editor Annie Huang explored queer identity, cultural dynamics, Schema Therapy, and parenting. Xi’s insight, “For some, reclaiming our bodies means losing our cultures,” resonated deeply, highlighting the complex choices faced by queer people of color. The event created a safe, inclusive space for reflection and connection.
